Big Flames BBQ

Allergy Disclaimer & Food Safety Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

Applies To: All catering services, food items, menu offerings, and related operations provided by Big Flames BBQ.

1. General Statement

Big Flames BBQ is committed to providing quality food and service to our clients. However, due to the nature of catering operations and the shared environments in which our food is prepared, we do not and cannot guarantee that any food or beverage item is free from allergens, cross-contact, or other food safety risks.

We prepare food in commercial and mobile kitchen environments that are not allergen-free, and we handle a wide variety of ingredients that may include, but are not limited to:

Peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, sesame, gluten, and other allergens.

2. Outsourced Food Production

To support large-scale operations and maintain consistency across events, many of our food products are produced and/or sourced from third-party suppliers. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Burgers

  • Salads & pre-cut produce

  • Cookies and baked goods

  • Condiments and packaged beverages

While we strive to work with reputable vendors and review product information where available, we do not control the facilities or processes used by these third-party suppliers.

As such, we make no guarantee—express or implied—regarding the presence or absence of any allergens, contaminants, or food sensitivities in these products.

3. Food Safety Compliance

Big Flames BBQ operates in accordance with Ontario food safety regulations, including guidelines set out by the Ontario Ministry of Health and local public health authorities. We implement standard food handling procedures and sanitation protocols.

However, despite reasonable efforts to follow these standards, we cannot and do not guarantee the safety or integrity of all food items, especially in cases involving:

  • Allergens or sensitivities

  • Client handling of food on-site

  • Cross-contamination during large-scale service

  • Variability from supplier-prepared items

All food is consumed at the sole risk of the client and their guests.

4. Cross-Contact Risk

Our food is prepared, stored, transported, and served using shared equipment and surfaces. While our team follows basic cleaning protocols between uses, cross-contact between food items is always a possibility.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Shared grills, knives, tongs, utensils

  • Coolers and transport containers

  • Buffet tables or service stations

  • Cooking oils or condiments used in multiple menu items

We do not offer allergen-free preparation areas or procedures.

5. Client & Guest Responsibility

It is the sole responsibility of the client to:

  • Notify us in writing of any allergies or dietary restrictions well in advance of the event

  • Review general ingredient information and ask questions where needed

  • Communicate risks to their guests and take additional precautions when severe allergies are present

If any individual has a life-threatening allergy, we strongly advise that they do not consume any food provided by Big Flames BBQ.

6. No Guarantee or Warranty

Big Flames BBQ does not:

  • Guarantee any food is free from allergens or cross-contamination

  • Guarantee that food will meet dietary, medical, religious, or lifestyle requirements

  • Warrant any verbal or written food safety assurance made by team members, unless formally stated in a signed agreement

No staff member is authorized to guarantee the safety or suitability of any menu item.

7. Waiver of Liability

By booking with Big Flames BBQ, the client expressly agrees that:

  • Big Flames BBQ, its employees, owners, suppliers, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any allergic reaction, illness, injury, or health-related incident resulting from the consumption or exposure to any food or beverage item, regardless of cause.

  • This waiver of liability applies in all circumstances, including but not limited to negligence, supplier errors, cross-contact, preparation methods, or labeling inaccuracies.

  • The client accepts full responsibility for informing guests of any relevant risks and for any consequences arising from food consumption at their event.

8. Indemnity Clause

The client agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Big Flames BBQ, its employees, and representatives from any claims, disputes, costs, damages, or legal actions that may result from allergy-related incidents or food safety complaints arising from the catered event.
